Saalt Disc - Period care simplified! Saalt have simplified period management yet again. This time they have done it with a comfortable, reusable, no-mess menstrual disc. Menstrual discs work differently to cups and don’t rely on suction to stay in place. Rather, they are positioned up behind the pubic bone. This unique design makes them an excellent choice for those who have bladder sensitivities (such as frequent UTI’s), weak pelvic floor muscles, or a low or high cervix. The Saalt disc also has a custom finger notch to help make removal easier and a little less messy. Saalt Disc features: Comfortable – made from 100% medical grade silicone, this disc is soft and sensationlessWear for up to 12 hours or overnightReusable – lasts for up to 10 yearsEasy removal due to the built-in finger notch and grip linesStays in place by resting under the cervix and behind the pubic bone, without any need for suctionNo-mess period sex – flexible, flat fit design allows for no-mess intimacy. Note: Menstrual discs are NOT a contraceptive. When used together, friction between a disc and a condom may create a micro-tear in the condom. No BPA, or latex. Odor free and non-toxicHigh capacity and available in two sizes for a custom fitCan be used with IUD’s when worn as directedMade in the USASaalt Disc Duo Box also available for those who are unsure what size they need Saalt Disc sizing: Unlike many menstrual disc brands, the Saalt Disc is available in 2 sizes to help you find the best one for your anatomy and level of flow. How to use the Saalt Menstrual Disc: The first time you use your Saalt Disc and at the end of each cycle, it is recommended to boil it for 4-5 minutes in order to properly sanitize it. Prepare: Wash your hands and thoroughly rinse off any soap residue.Fold: Pinch the sides of the Saalt Disc together between your thumb and forefinger to create a thin elongated figure 8 shape.Insert: With your disc held firmly, slide it in at a horizontal angle towards the tip of your tailbone. Your disc should be completely inside the vagina. Position: Release your pinch on the disc and tuck the notch up above your tailbone so that it is held securely in place.Remove: Wash your hands thoroughly. Stand, sit, or squat. Use your forefinger to locate the notch of the disc. Tuck your finger into the notch and gently pull it down from behind your pubic bone. Do not try to pull the disc out by grabbing the silicone ‘bowl’. Gently and slowly pull it out to help minimise mess. Empty the contents of the disc into a sink or toilet.Rinse and Re-insert: Rinse your disc in cold water. You may also like to clean it with a menstrual cup cleanser. Your disc is then ready to re-insert. How to clean the Saalt Menstrual Disc: Sanitize: At the start and end of your period, sterilise your disc by boiling it in a pot of water for 4-5 minutes or by using the Saalt microwave cup steriliser. The disc storage bag can be cleaned by adding to your regular load of laundry.Wash: During your cycle, rinse your Saalt disc in cold water to help prevent staining or use a menstrual cup cleanser to clean the disc. Avoid any cleanser containing fragrance or oils that may irritate your vagina or cause deterioration of your disc. Store: Allow your disc to air dry thoroughly and store in its bag (or other breathable container) until next needed. Some discolouration may occur over time. This is normal. If your Saalt disc is broken or shows any sign of deterioration, it’s time to replace it. What we love about Saalt! Saalt Disc FAQ's Does the Saalt Disc self empty? Self-emptying or ‘auto-dumping’ is a feature of all menstrual discs. This is where the rim of the disc dislodges from behind the pubic bone (usually by bearing down with your pelvic floor muscles), allowing the cup to empty without being removed completely. Once the auto-dump is complete, simply tuck the rim back behind the pubic bone. How messy is the Saalt Disc to empty? Because of the notch in the Saalt Disc, it is easier to grab and remove, making it slightly less messy than other discs. However, there will still be more mess than when using a cup. Be prepared for a gush of fluid to come out if your disc is quite full. Grabbing the disc with a bit of toilet paper can also help absorb and lessen some of the mess. What cervix height does the Saalt Disc suit? The Saalt Disc is suitable for all cervix heights, since its placement is based on the pubic bone position, rather than suction within the vaginal canal. People with a low cervix may find a disc more suitable if they have had trouble with cups pushing their way out. Will my partner feel the Saalt Disc during sex? The ‘bowl’ of the Saalt Disc is made from paper thin silicone and should be unnoticeable to your partner during sex. Does the Saalt Disc have measuring lines to help keep track of my flow? No, the Saalt disc does not have measuring lines, and discs are typically not suitable for measuring your menstrual loss. The way in which the contents often fall out of the disc during removal makes it difficult to determine the amount originally within it. As a guide, the small Saalt Disc has a 30ml volume and the regular Saalt Disc has a 50ml volume. What if I want to try two sizes of Saalt Disc? There are a few reasons why you may want two different size Saalt Discs:The larger for when your flow is heavy and the smaller for when your flow lessons.Unsure of which size will be the most suitable. You want to save money and give a cup to a friend or family member.Whatever the need, Saalt have you covered with their Saalt Disc Duo Pack. They provide a more cost effective way to purchase two different sized Saalt Discs. Are there different folds to use with the Saalt Disc? Due to the different design of discs compared to cups, there is no need for different types of folds. Simply pinch the disc between your thumb and forefinger to create a thin, elongated (figure 8) shape, and slide it into place.
