Saalt Cup sizing: The Saalt Cup is available in two sizes. Most women can successfully use both sizes of Saalt Cup, the small for lighter days and the regular for heavier days, but one size may be more comfortable and more suitable depending on your particular situation. For those under the age of 18, the Teen size Saalt may be more suitable. Small: Suitable for women with a light to normal flow (2-3 tampons) and a low to moderate cervix height. Dimensions: 41mm diameter | 70mm total length (including stem) | 25ml capacity Regular: A high capacity cup that is suitable for women with a normal to heavy flow (3-4 tampons) and a moderate or high cervix height.Dimensions: 46mm diameter | 70mm total length (including stem) | 30ml capacity While your level of flow is an important indicator for the Saalt cup, the following factors should also be considered:Petite physique: You may consider starting off with a Saalt SmallTampon size: If you have only ever used mini tampons, you may wish to consider the teen size SaaltVaginal insertion: If you haven’t comfortably inserted anything in your vagina before, we recommend the size smallVaginal Birth: If you’ve given birth vaginally, you may prefer the Saalt RegularPhysical Activity: Active users with strong pelvic floor muscles may prefer the Saalt Small. Please check the position of your cervix to ensure you select the correct Saalt Cup size. Because your cervix can change position during the month, it is best to check it at the beginning of your period. How to use the Saalt Soft Cup: The first time you use your Saalt cup and at the end of each cycle, it is recommended to boil it for 4-5 minutes in order to properly sanitize it. Due the to softer nature of the Saalt Soft, it may take a bit more practice than firmer cups to master insertion.Check: Before inserting your Saalt cup, first check that the four air holes in the top rim of the cup are clear and free from any debris.Prepare: Wash your hands and thoroughly rinse off any soap residue.Fold: Decide on a fold. The most common folds for inserting a menstrual cup are the C-fold, Punch-down fold, and the 7-fold.Insert: With your cup folded and held firmly just below the upper rim, slide it up and back at a 45 degree angle towards the tip of your tailbone. Your cup should be completely inside the vaginal canal but sitting lower than a tampon. Your cup is sitting in the right place when the rim is below or around your cervix.Position: Release the cup. It should then pop open and create a seal. To ensure this seal has been created, rotate the cup by pinching the base (not just the stem) and turning it 360 degrees.Secure: To make sure the cup is fully opened and secure, run a finger around the base of the body of the cup to ensure there are no folds. You can also double-check the seal by gently tugging on the stem. If there is some resistance when you tug, you have a good seal.Remove: Wash your hands thoroughly. Stand, sit, or squat. Use the stem to locate the base of the cup. With your thumb and index finger, pinch the base of the cup to break the seal. Wiggle the cup side to side as you gently pull it out. Empty the contents of the cup into a sink or toilet.Rinse and Re-insert: Rinse your cup in cold water. You may also like to clean it with a menstrual cup cleanser. Your cup is then ready to re-insert. How to clean the Saalt Soft Cup: Sanitize: At the start and end of your period, sterilise your cup by boiling it in a pot of water for 4-5 minutes or by using the Saalt microwave cup steriliser. The cup storage bag can be cleaned by adding to your regular load of laundry.Wash: During your cycle, rinse your Saalt cup in cold water to help prevent staining. Use a menstrual cup cleanser to clean the cup. Avoid any cleanser containing fragrance or oils that may irritate your vagina or cause deterioration of your cup. Clear the four holes in the rim of the Saalt cup by running under water or gently poking with a toothpick.Store: Allow your cup to air dry thoroughly and store in its bag (or other breathable container) until next needed. Some discolouration may occur over time. This is normal. If your Saalt cup is broken or shows any sign of deterioration, it’s time to replace it. What we love about the Saalt menstrual cups! Saalt Soft Cup FAQ's What are the advantages of the Saalt Soft? The softer silicone of the Saalt Soft will make it more suitable and more comfortable for people who:Can feel a firmer cup when it is insertedExperience cramps when using firmer cupsHave a sensitive bladder and find firmer cups apply pressure to the urethraSuffer frequent UTI’s and need to ensure proper urine flow is restricted as little as possible What are the disadvantages of the Saalt Soft? Softer silicone cups can be more difficult to make pop open fully when inserting. New cup users may need to persist a little longer to master the technique of properly inserting softer styles of cups.Soft cups are also more likely to get ‘crushed’ by very strong pelvic floor muscles, which can break the seal and lead to leakage. If you have super fit or overactive pelvic floor muscles, we would recommend the regular Saalt or the Saalt menstrual disc. Why am I feeling pain with the Saalt Soft inserted? If you are experiencing pain even with a Soft menstrual cup, you may be positioning the cup too high causing it to suction around your cervix. Try positioning it lower.Or, you may have an anatomy more suited to a menstrual disc which is softer again and doesn’t rely on suction to stay in place. Can I have sex while wearing the Saalt Soft Cup? Even though the Saalt Soft is made of softer silicone than regular style cups, it is still too rigid and not suitable for period sex. You will need to use a menstrual disc instead. Does the Saalt Cup have measuring lines to help keep track of my flow? No, the Saalt cups do not have any measuring lines, however, as a guide, the Teen Saalt holds 15ml (1-2 tampons), the Saalt small holds 25ml (2-3 tampons), and the Saalt regular holds 30ml (3-4 tampons). What if I want to try two sizes of Saalt Soft Cup? There are a few reasons why you may want two different size Saalt Cups:The larger for when your flow is heavy and the smaller for when your flow lessons. The larger for when your cervix is high and the smaller for if your cervix moves lower during your cycle.Unsure of which size will be the most suitable. You want to save money and give a cup to a friend or family member.Whatever the need, Saalt have you covered with their range of Duo Packs. They provide a more cost effective way to purchase two different sized or styled Saalt Cups. Does the Saalt Soft Cup come in any other colours? To make it easier to differentiate between the different styles in the Saalt range, the Saalt Soft is only available in Mist Grey, Desert Blush, and Mountain Iris.
